The M42L battery is primarily designed for modern vehicles equipped with "Eco Idle" or "Stop-Start" systems. These vehicles automatically shut off the engine when stationary (e.g., at traffic lights) to save fuel and restart it instantly when the driver presses the accelerator.

This battery type is most commonly found in the following Malaysian and international car models:

• Perodua: Specifically high-spec variants like the Myvi G3 (Advance), Bezza (Advance), Axia (Advance), Ativa, and the New Alza.

• Toyota: Models such as the Toyota Veloz.

• Nissan: Primarily the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (which often uses it as a secondary or sub-battery).

• Honda: Used in some hybrid models like the Civic Hybrid, CRZ Hybrid, and Jazz Hybrid.

• Technology: It uses EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) technology, which is more durable than standard batteries to handle the frequent engine cranking required by start-stop systems.

• Layout: The "L" in M42L signifies the terminal position (Left-hand side). It is often interchangeable with the 60B20L specification.

• Size: It is physically the same size as a standard NS40ZL battery but offers higher energy storage and recovery capabilities.

In 2012, a battery research survey was conducted by the German Stiftung Warentest organization in conjunction with the ADAC association and the German Automobile Club. Banner batteries were awarded a "Very Good" rating (1.4) in the test evaluation. The factory located in Linz, Austria, continues to maintain high quality in accordance with ISO9001, QS9000, and VDA6.1 requirements.
